Read
their guidelines
A manual submission to the leading
engines will enable any submission errors to be viewed, whereas
errors arising from mass software program submissions can go undetected.
Read the guidelines of each search engine first to give you the
best chance of conformance and the highest possible ranking.
Yahoo and DMOZ are the two
most important directories, as they add a large amount of credibility
to your website and help build your link popularity for higher rankings.
To be included in these directories, your submission must be evaluated
by an editor (a real person) and placed in the database. Be careful
not to use marketing hype in your descriptions as editors can frown
upon subjective terms like "cheapest", "#1",
or "best". Read the descriptions of your competitors’
listings before submitting yours.
