Monitor
& measure
Once you have submitted, be patient. After about three weeks, search
for your site by name in the search engines to ensure it was successfully
listed. Monitor your listing and measure your ranking performance
with some simple tools, at a comfortable frequency for you. Odd
things can happen from time to time, so keep an eye on your listing
to ensure it doesn’t disappear, or contain a bad link, for
example. Resubmit your site if you spot any trouble. If, after another
four weeks, your site is still not listed, re-submission is advised.
It is also best to resubmit
any time you make significant changes to your website. The search
engines should revisit on a regular basis, but remember the advanced
ones begin crawling the highest ranking and frequently changing
sites first. So resubmit to prompt them to crawl and index your
content again.
